The story behind this hymn breaks my heart. The Presbyterian lawyer, Horatio Spafford, wrote this hymn while going through a time of great tragedy in his life. He'd lost a lot of his real estate during a fire in Chicago and before the fire, he lost his son. He then sent his wife and four daughters to Great Britain, where he would soon follow. The boat sank and his wife was the only survivor. His wife sent word back that she was "saved alone". As he was passing over the place where his daughters had died he wrote the words to this hymn.
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul,
it is well, it is well with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and hath shed his own blood for my soul.
It is well, it is well with my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
It is well, it is well with my soul.
And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
even so, it is well with my soul.
It is well, it is well with my soul.
This time of year marks the death of my father. Oh how I miss him, but I know that my only comfort and hope in this life is Christ. It is well with my soul.

Dear 'Ole State
It is the cool in the air, the smell of the grill, and the sound of cowbells that makes my heart pitter patter inside. My cowbell, Andrew and I went to the MSU/Auburn game to cheer the Dawgs on. Andrew, who is a devout University of Florida fan, supported my team by wearing his maroon and white. (MARRIAGE TIP: Support your spouses team.) The pregame build-up before the players run out is what really gets me emotional. The cowbells ringing, the fight song playing, and the jets flying over brought tears to my eyes this past Thursday......this is the reason why my Daddy loved STATE. Here are a couple of pictures from the game.
I love this time of year!!!

Shrimp and GuacTacos
Grilled Shrimp and Guac Tacos with Corn Grilled in the Husks
Andrew and I made these tonight and they were Ahh-MAZING!
Here's how it went down.....
Grilled Corn:
Crank your grill up to medium heat and throw the corn ( keep in the husk) on the grill. Let them cook for about 20-25 minutes.
Guac:
1 large avocado or 2 small ones chopped
1 small tomato chopped
1 small yellow onion chopped
2 small jalepeno chopped
1 lime (juiced)
salt and pepper to taste
Combine everything and mash with fork until you get the consistency you like. We like ours chunky!
Grilled Shrimp Skewers:
Place raw-peeled shrimp on skewers.
Splash shrimp with EVOO.
Sprinkle shrimp with a little Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning.
Cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes.
Butter up the corn......get out those flour tortillas and put your shrimp and guac in them .......top with a little lettuce, sour cream, and cheese and eat up! SO YUM!
